Ms. Xiaofang Zhang (Jessie), a second year MEd in Curriculum and Instruction (English Language Education) graduate student in the Faculty of Education at the University of Macau was recently awarded the Faculty of Education Scholarship for Outstanding MEd Thesis (Academic Year 2018/2019). The Faculty of Education Scholarship for Outstanding MEd Thesis is awarded based on the quality of the thesis writing. Ms. Xiaofang Zhang (Jessie)’s academic track thesis received the thesis classification grade of “Excellent”. In Ms. Xiaofang Zhang (Jessie)’s thesis—titled A Mixed Methods Investigation of how the Keyword Technique Facilitates Learning English Collocations—she reports on an investigation of the effectiveness of two strategies for learning English verb-noun and adjective-noun collocations: the keyword technique and the rote learning method.
